The All Inclusive Great Barrier Reef Cruise Reef Experience

Reef Experience is Cairns’ best Great Barrier Reef day tour, and it is even all inclusive.

Reef Experience even includes in the quoted price items that other tour companies add on at dock side (Marine Park Tax), or offer as expensive options.

Having a highly trained and dedicated staff gives you a level of service that the other tours can not match.

The crew loves the Great Barrier Reef and scuba diving, passing that passion on to others is second nature to them.

Reef Experience, Cairns’ ONLY ALL-Inclusive day cruise

Cairns Best Reef Tour

Your all inclusive day with the Reef Experience starts with the included pick up from your central Cairns hotel (a small fee for outlying hotels) taking you to The Marlin Marina, finger A, to meet the Reef Experience.

You will arrive at the vessel, which is a well appointed high speed catamaran, around 7:20 with breakfast waiting on board.

A breakfast of Bacon and egg roll is served along with a tropical fruit platter.

After breakfast, there is a safety briefing and a demonstration on how to use the snorkeling equipment for those who have not tried snorkeling before.

Get yourself settle for the 8 am departure at either the air conditioned Saloon or topside on the sun deck. The sun deck has both covered areas and open areas for sun bathing.

Once the vessel has cleared the port area, the marine biologist will hold a lecture for those who would like to get an overview of what marine life they might encounter on the reef sites.

Arrival time at the first of two reef sites is around 9:30.

Hastings Reef is the best known of the outer reefs and it frequently the first destination.

The Reef Experience and her sister company’s Reef Encounter have exclusive rights to a number of mooring on five of the outer reefs.

On each reef there is also more than one location.

This allows the captain to select the best sites based on weather and tide conditions. It also means that you will be on the only boat to be visiting that site.

What’s included?

The all inclusive package includes the use of snorkeling equipment and also includes a scuba dive.

Certified divers can bring their own equipment or use the well maintained top quality gear on-board.

Each mooring will offer a choice of dive experiences that will suit snorkelers and scuba divers from the novice level to advance.

On some reef sites, advance diver might take the dive tender a short distance away to explorer a deeper portion of the reef.

Those who are not certified divers will also have the opportunity to explore the reef from a scuba divers viewpoint with a resort dive also called a discover dive.

The resort dive starts with a short classroom explanation of some of the scientific principles involved and some of the safety precautions.

This will be followed by learning some basic skills which will be practised in calm waters on the reef.

When you are comfortable with the skills the instructor will take you down about 5 metres and guide you around the reef. A true scuba dive experience.

After the morning session, lunch is served. It will be a hot and cold buffet prepared on-board by the MV Reef Experience’s chef.

While lunch is finishing up, the captain will relocate the vessel to the second reef and the afternoon water session will start at around 12:45.

Scuba divers who booked a second dive will have a new dive site to explore and those who took the resort dive and want more will have an opportunity for an optional second resort dive.

Of course snorkeling is available to any that wants to enjoy it.

In both this afternoon session and in the morning session is a glass bottom boat tour.

While only a few day tours have glass bottom boats, the All Inclusive MV Reef Experience is the only one that has it included in the standard price.

The glass bottom boat is a guided experience with a crew member, often the marine biologist, pointing out and identifying different types of corals and marine life.

Around 3 pm it is time to head back to Cairns.

During the journey will be a snack of wine and cheeses. There is still time to work on your tan on the sun deck or just cool off in the air conditioned saloon.

By 4:30 you are back in Cairns for your transfer back to your hotel.
