Reef Cruise to Frankland Islands – Are you are looking for an uninhabited and unspoilt island on The Great Barrier Reef? No resorts. No shops. No restaurants.
Then the Frankland Islands are for you!
The Frankland Islands group is made up of 5 continental islands surrounded by fringing reefs. The group is located 10km offshore from the mouth of the Russell and Mulgrave rivers and 45km south of Cairns.
The islands include High, Normanby, Russell, Round and Mabel and are part of one of the Natural Wonders of the World “The Great Barrier Reef”.
Frankland Islands Cruises are the ONLY tour operator permitted to visit the Islands that are protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
Your day trip is to Normanby Island. Normanby Island is a national Park, part coral cay, part continental reef community.
Start your day with a scenic 40 minute drive. You travel south of Cairns through the pretty Mulgrave Valley to Deeral where your cruise starts. Relax as you cruise down the Mulgrave River. Learn about the Mulgrave Valley’s unique flora and fauna while taking in the beauty of the surrounding rainforest clad mountain range. (Bus transfers at extra cost pay on board).
At the mouth of the river the Frankland Islands slowly come into view. Then it is only a short open water crossing to your destination for the day.
Explore the island and reef yourself or join the guided tours with a Marine Biologist.
Certified and Introductory scuba diving with our experienced instructors is available. Diving must be prebooked. Some medical conditions, illnesses and medications can prevent you from diving.
